Jecinta Wanjiru is the last born in a family of seven brothers including Pastor Joseph (Jojo) Kanyiri. Together with her brothers, they came to Huruma in 2000 after their father left them because their mother was sick. They had gone through a hard time with their sick mother before they joined the home. She did her primary studies at the Ngong Huruma Primary School and later her secondary studies at the Moi Girls Isinya High School courtesy of sponsorship by the Equity Bank of Kenya Wings to Fly Programme. Later on, she joined Kenyatta University through the sponsorship of I AM HURUMA FOUNDATION that catered for her tuition fee and upkeep. In the campus, she also served as an elected student leader. She graduated with a degree in Bachelors of Art in Gender and Development studies from the same university in 2019.
