Stephen Gakombe

Stephen Gakombe’s (picture: left) story is one of perseverance and achievement in the face of hardship. Stephen joined our home in 2015 as a Form One student. He was one of three siblings who completed primary school at the same time. With limited family resources and an older brother battling a chronic illness that required frequent hospital visits, it was nearly impossible for the family to support all three children through secondary education.

Thanks to his strong academic performance, Stephen was enrolled at Ngong Huruma Secondary School as a beneficiary. Over the next four years, he remained focused and diligent in his studies. His determination paid off when he excelled in his Secondary National Exams and earned a place at Kirinyaga University.

At university, Stephen pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Statistics. His passion for numbers and data analysis led him back to the place that helped raise him, he now works at Huruma Children’s Home as a Statistical Analyst.

In addition to his professional achievements, Stephen is now a proud family man, building a life grounded in the values of hard work, resilience, and gratitude.

We are proud of Stephen and all he has accomplished. His journey is a powerful reminder that given support and opportunity, children can overcome great challenges and grow into impactful, purpose-driven adults.
