END OF YEAR NEWSLETTER
Dear Friends and Partners,
Warm greetings in the name of our Lord Christ. I hope this message finds you well and that God has been a source of strength and blessings for you and your loved ones. You are precious to us, and I want you to know that you are always in our prayers. We thank God for being our Ebenezer throughout this year. From the beginning until now, His guidance has been evident in our lives. The Lord has stood by us, helping us overcome many challenges, including my personal battle with illness. Truly, He has been our shepherd and fortress.
Overcoming Health Challenges
This year, my health presented one of the most challenging journeys. In June, my oncologist informed me of the abnormal multiplication of cancer cells in my body. Since then, I have been undergoing weekly chemotherapy sessions every Thursday morning. I am grateful to share that the journey has been manageable, and the doctor’s reports have been consistently positive.
The chemotherapy sessions, planned for six months, have not been easy, but I am now in the fifth month. Upon completing the sessions, my doctor will guide us on the next steps. I cannot express enough gratitude for the unwavering support from family and friends where together we were able to raise Kes 3,000,000 on my medical fundraiser held on 3rd and 9th November 2024. This has really eased the financial burden of these costly treatments and your prayers and support have been a beacon of hope these past months.
Academic Milestones Achieved
This year, we celebrated two candidate classes sitting for their National Examinations: Grade 6 students advancing to Grade 7 in Junior School, and Form 4 students completing secondary school. We are thankful the examinations proceeded smoothly and our children were able to sit for them successfully. Our school served as the examination center for Grade 6, while Form 4 students were hosted by one of our neighboring schools.
Watching these students grow into future leaders fills my heart with joy. Many of our Form 4 candidates joined the Home at a very young age and seeing their achievements as a Mother is deeply fulfilling. This success would not have been possible without your unwavering support and love. Thank you for being part of their academic journey and milestones in life.
Supporting Independence: The Transition Program
This year, the Home was able to exit 17 young adults back to the community. Most of the kids we exited joined the Home at a very young age. In total, twenty students received housing kits to help them embark on independent living, out of Huruma Children’s Home & School. Each kit included beddings, kitchen ware, toiletries and upkeep money, forming a strong foundation for their next chapter in life. Nine of these students, who lacked other support systems, transitioned into housing provided by the Home. It is a privilege to walk alongside them as they embrace independence and new opportunities.
Celebrating the Christmas Spirit
Christmas is a time of joy and reflection, reminding us of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, and the promise of forgiveness. We celebrate this season with thanksgiving and joyful praise.
Our Christmas Carols began in November, setting a festive mood in the Home. Friends and family have joined us to share this special time, singing carols and bringing Christmas cheer to our children. We thank each one of you for making this season brighter by sharing your time and love with us.
We strive to ensure that our children experience the magic of Christmas, just as any child would in a loving family. From delicious, balanced meals to personalized gifts, we make every effort to create beautiful and lasting memories for them.
Spreading Joy with early Christmas Festivities
Our celebrations began early this year. Before schools closed, our children and staff enjoyed a special lunch sponsored Set featured image 2
by Hope for Huruma Foundation. The children have been blessed with daily surprises, this putting smiles on their faces. They have enjoyed special lunches and support from Care and Share Foundation, Irene Montet and friends, Jennifer from World Gospel and The Least of These Ministries, Kajiado County Government, and many others have made this festive season unforgettable.
Heartfelt Gratitude and Appreciation
This year had its share of challenges, but your unwavering support carried us through. Thank you for allowing God to use you as vessels of His love and provision. Your kindness and generosity have made an immeasurable difference in our children’s lives.
A special thank you to Jogima Company and Irene Montet and friends for your generous donation of foodstuff, sundries and clothing. Your gifts arrived as an early Christmas blessing, bringing joy to our children. Please know that you are deeply appreciated and always in our prayers. May God bless you abundantly.
We want to wish you all a Merry Christmas.
