HURUMA APRIL 2026 UPDATES

I greet you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I trust that this message finds you well, safe, and strengthened. It is with great joy and gratitude that I write to you, fully aware that it is only by God’s grace and protection that we are all here today. Each day we are given is a testimony of His faithfulness and a reminder that He still has a purpose for each of us, as beautifully written in Jeremiah 29:11, He plans to prosper us and give us hope and a future. He is truly a faithful God.

From my side, the Huruma family and I are doing well, and we sincerely thank God for His continued goodness. He has truly been our Ebenezer, our help this far, and we have seen His hand guiding, protecting, and providing for us in every season. Through both challenges and victories, God has remained faithful, and we do not take His grace for granted.

As we continue on this journey together, we are encouraged to keep trusting in Him, knowing that His plans are always perfect. May this message serve as a reminder of God’s unfailing love and His constant presence in our lives.

SCHOOL PROGRESS

Since the resumption of Term Two, we are grateful to report that the school has settled in well, and everything is progressing smoothly. The students have returned with renewed energy, focus, and determination, which has greatly encouraged us as a team. Their positive attitude toward learning gives us strong confidence that this term will be both productive and successful.

Our teachers have also resumed their duties with great commitment and readiness. Their dedication to guiding and supporting the learners is evident, and we are optimistic that their efforts will yield excellent results in the months ahead. Together, both staff and students have created a purposeful learning environment that lays a strong foundation for academic success.

We are placing special focus on our candidate classes, which are, Form Four, Grade Nine, and Grade Six, as they prepare for their national examinations and assessments scheduled for the next school term. To ensure they are well prepared, we are working diligently to complete the syllabus on time, while dedicating ample time to revision. A key part of this preparation involves engaging the students with past examination/assessment papers, helping them become familiar with exam/assessment formats, question patterns, and time management. This approach is building both their confidence and competence as they approach this important milestone.

We take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to every individual who has taken the noble step of sponsoring a child’s education. Your support continues to open doors of opportunity and shape brighter futures. May the Lord richly bless you, and may He come through for you in your time of need, just as you have been a blessing to these children.

Thank you for walking this journey with us.

GATUNE PROGRESS

The Gatune project continues to show encouraging progress as Huruma moves closer to long-term sustainability through agriculture. One of the biggest recent milestones is the completion of the first double greenhouse at Gatune Farm, a major step toward modern and productive farming. This development is expected to improve food production, support sustainability, and create more opportunities for the community. The farm team has already started working in the greenhouse, and we are looking forward to seeing the fruits of this investment.

The farm has also started producing crops successfully. Recently, onions harvested from a small portion of the land demonstrated how fertile and productive the Gatune land can become with proper investment and management. We have also planted maize and beans, and we are eagerly waiting for the harvest season. In addition, we have been enjoying fresh kale from the farm, which has already become a blessing to the Huruma family. The team is now focusing on expanding production and improving farming methods.

Another major sign of progress is the agricultural training attended by the Gatune team in Kisumu. The team returned motivated and equipped with new knowledge on sustainable farming and agroforestry practices that will help transform the land into a highly productive farm.

The vision for Gatune has been growing steadily over the years. The project began with five acres donated to Mama Zipporah in 2009 and has continued expanding over time to support food security for Huruma Children’s Home.

Today, Gatune stands as a symbol of hope, sustainability, and empowerment. What we are seeing now is only the beginning, and with continued support, training, and dedication, the farm has the potential to become a major source of food and positive impact for the Huruma family and the wider community.
