GREETINGS

We hope that you and your families are well and keeping safe. It is our prayer that the Lord continues to be your refuge and strength in every season and in times of need.

Here at Huruma Children’s Home, we thank God for His faithfulness, protection, and provision. He has been our answer in many situations and has provided for us through so many different ways. Through our partners, friends, and well-wishers, He has continued to show us His love and care.

Indeed, Ebenezer! Thus far the Lord has helped us. We give Him all the glory and remain grateful for His continued faithfulness to the Huruma family.

SCHOOL PROGRESS.

We thank God for His faithfulness and protection as we enter the final term of the 2026 academic year. This is the shortest term of the school calendar, yet it comes with great responsibility and significant milestones for our learners. It is a season of completing the syllabus, strengthening knowledge, revising key concepts, and preparing our learners to confidently face their end-of-year examinations.

At Huruma, our teachers have continued to demonstrate great commitment and dedication. They are working closely with the learners through additional revision, assessments, consultations, and focused classroom sessions. Their goal is not only to complete the syllabus but also to identify areas where learners need additional support and ensure that every learner is adequately prepared for the examinations ahead.

This term is particularly important as three of our classes will sit for national examinations:

Grade 6 will undertake the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) at the end of primary school, marking an important step as they prepare to transition to Junior School.

Grade 9 will sit for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), an important national assessment at the Junior Secondary School level under the Competency-Based Curriculum. The assessment will form part of their transition to Grade 10 in Senior School.

Form 4 candidates will sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), marking the completion of their secondary education and preparing them for the next stage of their education and future careers.

We appreciate our dedicated teachers for the long hours, patience, guidance, and commitment they continue to give our learners. We also commend our students for their hard work and determination. As a school community, we remain committed to supporting them academically, emotionally, and spiritually throughout this important season.

We believe that with hard work, discipline, prayer, and God’s guidance, our learners can face their examinations with confidence. We continue to pray for all our candidates and trust God for a successful conclusion to the academic year.

GATUNE FARM PROGRESS

I thank God for the progress we continue to see at Gatune Farm. What started as a vision for self-reliance, food production, training, and creating opportunities for our young people is steadily becoming a reality. The farm continues to serve as an important part of Huruma’s journey toward sustainability.

One of the most exciting developments has been our greenhouse. We have now harvested our first crop of capsicums and tomatoes from the greenhouse. This is a special milestone for us because these crops were grown organically, and we are now able to sell some of the produce to people within the surrounding community. Seeing what we planted grow into something that can feed our children, generate income, and benefit our neighbours is very encouraging.

Beyond the greenhouse, we are also growing other crops at Gatune, including kale (sukuma wiki) and other vegetables. These crops continue to contribute to the food needs of Huruma while giving our team practical experience in farming and sustainable food production.

Another important blessing at Gatune is the water project. The water we are able to provide and sell is benefiting people in the surrounding community. Families can access water closer to home, while the income generated also supports the continued development of the farm. It is encouraging to see the farm becoming a place that serves not only Huruma but also the wider community.

I am especially grateful for the team working at Gatune. They are doing a very commendable job. Their commitment, patience, and daily hard work are making a real difference. Farming requires consistency and dedication, and I appreciate everyone who continues to give their best to see Gatune grow.

I believe we are only beginning to see what God can do through Gatune Farm. With continued support, hard work, and God’s guidance, we look forward to seeing the farm grow further and become an even greater source of food, training, employment, and hope.

CHRISTMAS IS AROUND THE CORNER

Christmas is around the corner, and at Huruma, we are already feeling the excitement! Christmas always comes with a special feeling and, most importantly, the good tidings of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The melodies of Christmas carols have already filled the Huruma environment. Everywhere you turn, you can hear our children singing with great enthusiasm and joy. It is a beautiful reminder that Christmas is not only about celebrations and gifts, but also about celebrating God’s love, hope, and the joy we have through Jesus Christ..

As we prepare for Christmas, we are also making sure that our children experience the season in a special way. We are preparing special meals and a Christmas diet for the children, together with new clothes for them to wear as they celebrate. These may seem like simple things, but they bring great joy and create wonderful memories for our children.

As has been our custom at Huruma, we are also preparing early enough to have a special gift for every child. We believe that every child should feel remembered, loved, and valued during this season. Seeing the excitement on their faces as they receive their gifts is always one of the most beautiful moments of our Christmas celebrations.

For us at Huruma, Christmas is a special time of togetherness, thanksgiving, laughter, and creating beautiful memories with our children. We thank God for His faithfulness throughout the year and for providing through the many friends, partners, sponsors, and well-wishers who continue to stand with us.

As we look forward to celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray that the joy, peace, love, and hope of Christmas will fill every heart.

A WORD OF GRATITUDE

As we approach the end of another year, I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, friends, sponsors, and well-wishers around the world.

Thank you for always believing in the dreams we carry at Huruma and for standing with me through the years. Your support, prayers, encouragement, and generosity have helped turn many dreams into reality and have brought hope and opportunities to our children and young people.

Every achievement we celebrate at Huruma is a reflection of the many people who have chosen to walk this journey with us. Whether you have supported us financially, visited us, prayed for us, encouraged us, or simply shared our story with others, please know that your contribution matters.

I am deeply grateful for your continued trust and partnership. Together, we have seen God do great things, and I believe there is still much more ahead.

Thank you for standing with me and for believing in what God has placed in our hearts to accomplish. May the Lord continue to bless you, your families, and the work of your hands.

With a grateful heart, thank you for being part of the Huruma family. God bless you all.
