JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2025 NEW LETTER
I want to greet you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you are all doing well and that the Lord has been with you and your loved ones. God has been good to me and my children since the beginning of the year. He has been Jehovah Jireh, the one who has provided for all our needs. I praise Him for you and for bringing our paths together to change the lives of many young adults who almost gave up on life.
As we wrap up the first month of the year, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for the continued support and love you’ve shown our children. January has been a month of new beginnings, filled with fresh opportunities, challenges, and beautiful moments of growth. This month, we’ve seen our kids start new educational programs and progress toward their dreams and goals. It’s been a time of settling into routines and our normal school culture, yet also one of hope and excitement for what lies ahead in 2025.
In this newsletter, we’re thrilled to share some of the highlights from the past few weeks, along with ways you’ve helped make a difference in our lives. Your support has truly been the driving force behind all the positive changes we’ve experienced, and we can’t wait to continue this journey together.
BACK TO SCHOOL
The beginning of the first term of the school academic year marks a significant time for students, teachers, and staff members. It sets the tone for the rest of the academic year, impacting the learning environment, student engagement, and administrative planning.
During this term, the Huruma management recruited a new set of teachers and other supporting staff to provide an adequate number and to replace the staff who are no longer working with us during this term. Among those replaced is the principal position. Our previous principal was my child, and he had promised to serve with me for five years. The five years expired, and he moved on to other ventures. Since the beginning of this year, the school has been under the charge of a new principal named Sarah Muthoni. So far, her works are evident and tangible, and I believe that she is fit for this position.
This term, we also provided all students with the right educational resources to ensure all students had access to the necessary tools. I thank God that I could purchase all grade nine books and other stationery that were in demand, particularly during the first time. Grade nine is a new class that came to replace the form one class in the 8.4.4 model of studies.
GRADE NINE INTRODUCTION
The Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) i
n Kenya has introduced significant changes to the education system, notably the introduction of grades 7, 8, and 9. This marks the beginning of junior secondary education, which spans three years of being in junior secondary. The transition to Grade 9 commenced early this year, with the first cohort of learners under the CBC curriculum expected to complete their primary education in November 2025. From here, the student will need to choose the career path in senior secondary according to their academic performance in junior secondary. This will open a massive opportunity to both those who can easily understand the class work and those who are skilled differently in different fields
Stand with us as we support the competency and skills the students have achieved at our school. Unlike other years, we have grade 6, grade 9, and form 4 as the candidate classes this year.
