SCHOOL IS BACK

We are ready for this new year and we continue with our theme for the year of “Being Grateful Not Wasteful”. Teachers are ready for their students in regards to impacting knowledge and making them productive and responsible citizens. We thank you all for the great support in 2018 and also in 2019 through God’s favour we believe we shall conquer.

As we kick off the school year, we are ready to make this year our best one yet. Education is the key to success and we want to equip all of our children with the opportunity to reach their potential goals. We want to offer our gratitude to First Reformed Church and King’s Daughters Bible Study Group from the Grace Gospel Church, Niagara Falls who came in a great way to ensure that our children have the required school supplies and uniforms as they embark on a new school year. May God bless you all abundantly for helping me offer quality education to my children.

TRANSITION TEAM 2019

This is yet another year where we have seen another group of transition students joining us as team members in this wonderful children ministry. Transition is a program where our young adults spend a year giving back to the society in their different capabilities as they prepare to join higher institutions of learning. Here in Huruma we have engaged them in various departments where they are excelling in what they are doing. They are engaged in various departments such as the school, home, farm and landscaping.

JANUARY BIRTHDAYS

A birthday is one special day in a child’s life as it is a day when one feels loved when he/she is celebrated.  January born kids were not left out as we got to celebrate them on 20th January 2019 where they each got to enjoy yummy birthday cakes and some soft drinks. Here in Huruma birthdays are simple and fun and though simple our kids truly appreciate this special day. A touching thing happened when one of our kid who had travelled home to bury his elder sister called Mama and told her to make sure that he is not forgotten. That is what a birthday means to the kids. Make sure you won’t be left out come February so tag along and come celebrate with us. My birthday ,your birthday, let’s make it epic.

HURUMA BRICK WALL

Three weeks ago a part of our brick wall was brought down. It was such a devastating moment because no notice was issued prior to the demolition.  This hurt Mama so much as she is so particular of the children’s safety which was destroyed and she did not how to get funds to redo the wall again. We thank God for Leigh’s Mission who assisted in putting up temporary measures to protect the children from wondering to the road and trespassers from assessing the premises.  As a result due to this happening Mama went into a big shock which affected her back and since then she has been very sick. When you see Mama going to hospital know that she is really sick but we believe she shall regain her healthy self back.   Please pray for her for we need her more than ever before.

DRILLING IN OUR FARM (GATUNE FARM)

Mama Zipporah’s dream is to see our Gatune Farm located in Kiambu County producing enough food for the Home.  The place has no water but the soil is very rich.  Mama’s dream came true when Amber and Josh, Directors of Wells of Salvation got interested with this dream where they offered to raise funds for drilling a borehole.  Last year Wells of Salvation signed an agreement with the drilling company and on the 28th of January 2019 a team was sent to start on drilling the water.  For now we have not yet struck the water but we believe that in a few weeks water shall be found in our Gatune Farm which will really make irrigation easier and inexpensive in our farm. The water will not only benefit us but it will also benefit the surrounding community who walk more than ten kilometres to search for water.

HOPE

Smilesfrom the threshold of the year to come, “Whispering it will be happier”. I believe that every kid in the Home will be able to achieve their dreams and goals in life because as they say, “The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.” “Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to Love yourself to get anything done in this world.”

Thank you all for supporting us and May God bless you all abundantly.
